Band Bios

Trouble & Strife are a band who make no excuses for playing only the blues. Bruce and larry have been playing their own brand of soulful low down, take your time together for almost ten years. With a hot rythmn section, explosive dueling guitars and sweet harmonica, you have a boiling blues stew! Larry & Bruce both make their homes in the beautiful hills surrounding Orangeville Ontario, Canada. This area has the highest elevation in Ontario and is the headwaters to four rivers. It really comes out in the sound; the natural countryside resonates back to where the blues began in humble rural locations. Larry & Bruce have had the privilage of sharing the stage performing with or opening for James Cotton, Lucky Peterson, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Bob Stroger, Downchild Blues Band, Jack DeKeyzer, Fathead, Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne, Mel Brown, Michael Pickett, Tony D and many more!

Larry Kurtz

Larry started singing as a young boy in the church choir and also picked up the harmonica at an early age. He was exposed to much country and rock & roll music, but heard a Little Walter song on the radio and fell in love with the sound. Larry is a singer and songwriter who collaborated on the many of the original band tunes. He has had his own blues radio show on The Voice 88.1 FM and is the founder of the highly successful Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival.

Bruce Ley

Starting on the road as a professional musician at the age of 16, Bruce Ley has done it all in the music buisness. He is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, producer and music teacher. Bruce played piano in the house band for the Ronnie Prophet and Tommy Hunter television shows, backing up legends like Chet Atkins and many other stars. He has written film scores and music for children's television shows.

Michael Ley

Mike is an exciting young guitarist who really gets what the blues are all about. His influences are wide ranging from blues & jazz to rock. Mike has been with the band for over two years now and can be heard playing some scorching and tasty lead guitar on our debut recording.
